- * Cofilin/tropomyosin-type actin-binding domain *
- *************************************************
-
- Cofilin and destrin (known as ADF in chicken) [1,2] are highly related 19 Kd
- actin-depolymerizing proteins that sever actin filaments (F-actin) and bind
- actin monomers.
-
- These proteins contain a 13 residue domain that is also found in the N-
- terminal of muscle-type tropomyosins and which has been shown [3,4] to be
- involved in binding to F-actin.
-
- -Consensus pattern: [DE]-A-I-K-K-K-[LIVMF]-x(2)-[LIVM]-K-x-[DE]
- -Sequences known to belong to this class detected by the pattern: ALL, muscle-
- type tropomyosins and all cofilin/destrin family proteins.
- -Other sequence(s) detected in SWISS-PROT: NONE.
-
- -Last update: November 1990 / Pattern and text revised.
